This session will focus on building social capital with individuals in the context of organizational change from a model of traditional services to one in which supports are provided to help people become community members. The importance of social capital and connecting people to supports in their local community, especially when resources are scarce, will be discussed along with strategies that emphasize the person’s role in defining quality in his/her life. Methods to build social capital will be shared, including community connection and increasing opportunities for genuine participation.
