For the second time, SPAN is inviting more than 150 grandmothers raising their children to attend a 2nd Annual Mini Health-Conference "Grandmothers as Caregivers: Taking Care of You!" aimed at teaching and providing information on health, stress reduction, preventing and addressing diabetes, nutrition and exercise, as well as, exhibitors sharing health, wellness and other resource information.
The Statewide Parent Advocacy Network (SPAN) has received support from the Essex County Family Council, the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association; as well as, a small community grant from Macy's to co-plan, co-host and implement a one day Mini-Health Conference for Essex County grandmothers raising their grandchildren. The event is planned in collaboration with project partners, as well as, Grandmothers in the targeted communities who are members of various Grandparent Support Groups throughout Essex County
